My Boos

Ran into a good friend from high school, while I was at the grocery store. Had to do a double take to make sure it was him, he came over as soon as he saw me and we started to chat.

Our chat turned into a full blown conversation, that I frankly did enjoy.

He mentioned that whenever he bumps into some people from our high school days, that they usually act like they don’t know him.

This friend of mine is nobody you could ever forget. He always has a smile on his face and will do anything for you.

Why do we do that?

Why do we promise to always keep in touch, only to just go on with our lives and seperate ways. Are we busy? yes, I know more than anybody how hard it is to have a family, while also having a full time job. Are we too busy? No!

Surely, we can take one hour a week, (that’s one hour! out of the 168 hours!) and talk to our friends. An email here, text there, call here and if you can, even a twenty minute visit.

Out of all the friends that I had in high school. There are only two that I keep in constant contact. One I talk to almost every day and the other once a month (but we really catch up), so I’m very lucky.

I also have my BFFs, my partners in crime, my reasons for my sanity, and also my insanity. They are  two beautiful women I keep in my life, because I know too much dirt about them! They claim they love me, they not only tell me, but have shown me in many ways.

We’ve been together for a decade, and I anticipate many more decades to come. They’ve seen me at my best and they’ve seen me at my worst (yes even without make up). I would be lost without my girls, and I am not afraid to admit it.

They are the kind of friends that will tell me when to stop being a bitch, and when I have to be a bitch! Yes, that’s what you call true friends!

Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end
I found again in the heart of a friend.
-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Could you make it through life without friends? Maybe, but it wouldn’t be a life.

Remember, you might have close family members that love you (because they have too)

It’s awesome to have friends that love you (because they choose too)

Please acknowledge friends from the past, then hopefully they will stay friends in the future.

(To my friend from the past that I ran into at the grocery store: Thank you, for your time, lost track of how long we stood in the frozen section, but I know it was way more than 20 minutes. Thank you, for your email, and look forward to my email reply soon, and to the many more in the future.)

Speaking for myself, and I’m sure Gina will agree-
We will all 3 be best friends that stand beside each other for many more years to come. Notice I said beside, NOT behind. Contrary to some people’s beliefs, we do each choose our own friends, just like you said. Nobody forces any of us to follow or obey anyone. It is just hard for the people that think that to understand because they don’t have such close friends. We don’t all 3 always agree on everything, but that’s what makes us a great mix :)
    luv ya

geeezz!! i feel like i’m working in the estrogen ocean!! couldn’t you all just say “i know my girls have my back!”. why do u have to try to get someone all cryin’ and all?
anyways… a great way to keep in touch w/ people is facebook/myspace. i haven’t spoken to some of my high school friends in years, but w/ facebook, we keep in touch every so often. so when someone says we need to keep in touch, get them to sign up on facebook, and you can keep in touch even though u don’t make a phone call!
